Red Hat Summit
Get your geek on!
The Red Hat Summit in San Francisco, CA, May 8 -10, is the number one open source technology event that showcases the latest advances in cloud computing, platform, virtualization, middleware, storage, and systems management technologies. No pocket protector required Red Hat is an interesting entity in its own right; a hybrid of a software development company and programming community all rolled into one.
It’s a money making venture on one hand, but on the other, allows individuals and companies to use its applications, make them better and integrate them into their vast network. They are the champions of open source programming and just itching to share what they know. Altruistic and capitalistic in the same breath, but they’re firm believers that: “when the best ideas win, customers can’t lose.”
The Red Hat Summit offers a unique opportunity to learn and network with the brightest minds in open source programming technology. And besides the Grammy Award-winning band Weezer is performing! Food, drinks, and music, at the San Francisco Armory at 7:00 p.m. But you’ll need a full-conference pass or guest pass for entry.
Besides the networking and sharing of knowledge; the raison d’être is of course the seminars and technical certifications available to attendees of the Red Hat Summit. Seminars on digital transformation with open source technology, to previewing tomorrow’s technologies and just about everything in-between. Hear some of the brightest minds in open source programming espouse their knowledge.
Certifications are also available in a variety of Red Hat, and Linux applications, and attendees are advised that each ‘power course’ is two days in length, so they’re only able to add one to their respective schedules.
And outside of the virtual computing world there’s the city of San Francisco, that’s just waiting to be explored. Remember that even on its best days San Fran is a chilly customer as compared to its southern neighbor Los Angeles —check local weather beforehand.
San Francisco is one of those places that just has a cool vibe —it is what it is: eclectic and artsy, scenic and chic all at the same time.
